Breaking News

Bangkok, Thailand (14 March 2009)

Dear All,

I am excited to tell you that we now have 173 organisations in 24 different countries on board with the campaign! This truly is a united global campaign. For the full list of endorsing organisations, click on http://www.fbppn.net/?p=1357

Yesterday's launch in Thailand was a great success, with simultaneous press conferences happening in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. We've had some good media coverage, especially in Burma's exiled media outlets.

Launch Activities

Also in Thailand, the Thai Action Committee for Democracy in Burma & Peace For Burma held a performance event at the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre. Activists from Thailand and Burma dressed up as political prisoners in their shackles and uniforms, and as their jailers. View photos at http://www.fbppn.net/

Activists from the Free Burma Coalition-Philippines held a rally in front of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) office in Pasay city. The group unfurled a huge tarpaulin showing the faces of thousands of Filipino supporters from various parts of the country, demanding the release of all political prisoners in Burma. Launch events, demonstrations and signature collection also took place in Australia, India, Japan, and the UK, and other activities will happen very soon in Ireland, Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia. As we get more information we'll keep you updated and you can also find out more at http://www.fbppn.net/ Lots of groups around the world also kick-started their activities online.

Campaign film in Burmese

I think you will agree that this film is very powerful. It has English subtitles. You can now view it online at http://www.fbppn.net/?page_id=582
